Gulf Management Systems Gone Golfing

Fairways, Greens, and Charities, Oh My!

We had the pleasure to join the golf tournament at Carrollwood County Club in beautiful Tampa, Florida. The weather was perfect, with a light breeze and sunshine. As soon as we arrived, we were ready to tee off! The pine course is in terrific shape, surrounded by nature and beautiful homes. The peaceful environment was just what we needed – a day out of the office well spent. This was our first time at the 39th Annual Children’s Home Network event, but it will not be our last! We found out that this is the longest-running golf tournament in the Tampa Bay area, raising nearly $3.5 million for the children and families they serve.

Hogies & Hoagies

We arrived at 10:30 for registration. We felt welcomed by pleasant associates and staff. They took our bags to our golf carts that already had our names on them. We entered the putting and chipping challenges. We saw the prize – a shiny brown bottle of Jack Daniels and knew it was going to be ours by the end of the day! We received brand new t-shirts, cigars, and a sleeve of golf balls. We already felt like winners by the time we registered.

We had about thirty minutes to practice, mingle, and take in all the beauty. Before we knew it, we were sitting at a round table enjoying hoagies made by the delicious PDQ in Clearwater. We enjoyed a delicious chicken sandwich, cookies, chips, and then there was the beer!!

The amazing cart girls had just what we needed to quench our thirst as we got ready to swing the handle. Beers were free, so we were sure to tip the girls for a job well done!

Bring you’re A-Game

We enjoyed our beverages and cigars as we played the first nine holes. Then we hit the first pitstop. We entered the chipping contest. We got one practice shot, and then we were off! We each had our turn, and we cheered each other on. We came close to winning, but not close enough to land that bottle of whiskey. That’s okay – we put along happily to the next hole!

19th Hole There we were on the 12th hole, with six more holes to go. Just when we thought this day could not get any better, there were air guns and balls! We shot the air guns at least three hundred yards trying to win the longest drive, but the truth was we all already felt like winners. We now entered the putting contest. Jeremey had that look in his eyes of determination as he swung his iron. He won the closet shot to the pin and walked away with a fifty-dollar Amazon gift card. It wasn’t the bottle of Jack, but it wasn’t too shabby! Eighteen holes did not feel like enough – next time, we play twenty-seven! We cannot wait to go back for more. The best part is the money raised for the children and families in need.
